Fantastic trimmer
Purchased when these were on sale. Very satisfied for the price we paid. It does an amazing job trimming our 30 ft deck, gazebo area, emerald trees, and other out buildings. The battery stays charged approximately 40 - 50 minutes when trimming. We discovered that tough weeds drains the battery quicker. Best of all this is lighter than a gas trimmer and eliminates messing with extension cords.Di53
Perfect for small/medium size yards!
Perfect for small/medium side yards. I was getting tired of messing with my gas one. Always a hassle to keep running, having to mix gas/oil, not to mention the smell it leaves you with. This versatile trimmer gets the job done without all that hassle. I get about 30 good minutes of run time. I trim around my house and also edge my driveway. The string seems hassle-free too. I buy 0.65 trimmer line and re-wind my current spool. You can buy replacement spools with line already on it, but this route is much cheaper. It cuts through grass easily and some small weeds. I will say however that its not powerful enough to chop through thick brush and tough weeds, but for basic trimming every time you mow, this is the one to get. I also have the Black and Decker 20v Lithium sweeper/blower that I use to blow grass clippings off my driveway. So with 2 batteries, I can cut grass, trim, and blow the clippings away and when done just put back both batteries on the charger and its ready for next use.
GET IT!! You wont regret it!bigpoppa49
didn't last
I am a fan of the rechargeable battery. I have had this for 2 years. The first year worked great through the summer. however the metal bar on the bottom of the edger is made of thin aluminum and will easily scrape off until it bends or brakes. Don't expect it to last more than a year. On the higher priced ones, they replaced it with a plastic wheel. I recommend spend more for this one or save up for a new one the next year. The second problem is the plastic plate that covers the spool. It dried and hardened and the clips that lock it into place no longer hold it so I have to tape it each time I use it to keep the spool on. even then, sometimes it will fly off when using it and the spool goes flying off. This also is more durable on the higher priced version it appears. I recommend spend the extra money. Finally, one battery won't be enough if you live on a corner lot. Look for one that comes with 2 batteries. I am currently shopping for a new edger after 2 years. it is nice not to require gasoline though.atlatl
I found a new friend!
This model was purchased to replace a similar Black & Decker, one bought in 2013, and I just tried it out. Same price, world of difference in charging and lasting time.

It had more power than I could keep up with and put it back on charge while it was still going strong and taking down tall, thick grass and heavy weeds the other one struggled with. Battery pops out to charge and it charges quick, in the manner a cell phone does. It's even lighter than the 6-pounder, feels very lightweight. Several other ways in which I found great improvements and have nothing negative to say. Except it MIGHT be better for a shorter person. I'm 5'2" and when I brought it up to the height of the other one (which luckily had been just right) I don't know if much more telescoping would remain. Right out of the box it would be fine for folks under 5' even, and so easy to handle. Using it just now really made my day!JennyPete
Great for average sized yards
If your property is about 1/3 of an acre or so this will work great. Mine came with 2 batteries and I'm able to do both front and back yards using about one and half batteries. Power can be an issue as this will not do as well with clearing heavy growth, go with gas powered for that. But for standard trimming this works great. Even has a feature that turns the trimming head on it's side to use it as an edger which also works well. I'm an especially a fan of the fact that because it's electric and not gas powered there is almost zero maintenance. Just keep it clean and it's good to go even after sitting in storage for a year. Can't say the same for gas powered mowers or trimmers.blmags
