Liking it so far
Though still new to us, having only mowed twice, we are liking what we see. Extra power kicks in when needed and then backs off by itself. Quiet operating and battery charge allows the use we need, mostly trim work, ditches and bagging areas of thicker grass that piles up after riding mower throws clippings. Then enough battery life to then use our battery powered trimmer on one charge.ThePicks
The Tesla of Mowers
I had my doubts. Been using internal combustion mowers all my life but having had so many with motor issues I wondered if electric was the way to go. I saw this one on sale and as I needed a new mower anyway gave it a try. The battery and charger were not included and add around $100 to the cost. When I tried it for the first time I was amazed that it is on par with a gas mower, but seemed, I don't know, more "tourquey". It made quick work of a month's worth of lawn. The best part is now I don't have to buy gasoline for the mower. It's a lot quieter. The battery is rated at one hour but that should not be a factor. It's like a Tesla that cuts the yard. If anyone reading this is contemplating buying this, do so. It is not a cheap toy but rather is a solid mower that can go head to head with any gas mower.Chiennoir
Pleased after first mow
I was happy after the first mow. Although, I should have bought the 4ah battery as the 2ah battery lasted about 30 minutes before it started dying after running through tall grass. After about an hour charge, I was able to complete the yard and weed eat(the companion tool). I do have a big yard, about 50' by 75' and the grass was about a foot tall in some spots. When hitting the tall thick areas, the mower would automatically "kick-in" a higher speed. I used the side discharge and may try the grass catcher or mulch capability on the next mow. I grew up using a gas mower and switched over to an electric corded mower about 7 years ago. The freedom of the not having a cord is nice as well as not having to inhale the fumes of a gas mower. If you have a big yard, get the 4ah battery otherwise the 2ah battery will work. And don't forget the battery charger.Greg
Well Built
I bought this mower for my wife to trim around her flower beds. It came with two batteries, a normal size and a heavier one. The smaller battery lasted longer than I expected, and she even trimmed higher grass around the house foundation. The motor is quite strong. She loves the mower. This would be a good primary mower for someone with a small yard.Buster1600
I like it!
Just used this model for the first time this evening. The front yard is about 40 by 80 feet and the back is about 25 by 40 feet. Had not mowed in about 3 weeks and we had plenty of rain in that time so the grass was 5 to 8 inches tall. I started with the highest cut setting with the bigger 4.0 AH battery and took care of the front in about 20 minutes. Dropped it to the middle setting and did the front again. About 15 minutes. In hindsight, I could have just done it all in one on the middle setting. Next I did the back yard where the grass was really long and thick and got through about 2/3 of that-still on middle wheel setting-before battery went dead. Cool thing is the mower cuts up until the last minute just as well as if the battery is fully charged then just quits. This is good because you aren't pushing an under powered machine around for the last 10 minutes. Total run time on the big battery was about 45-50 minutes. Finished up with the smaller battery.RobertT
Greenworks mower
I love this mower since I can start it myself! I don't have to worry about dealing with gas or oil. It's easy to use on small lawn. It takes a little longer to do as it's a 19 inch but that's okay. I can mow the front lawn and get a start on the back lawn before it dies, about 50 min.Since we already had two GMax batteries for our GreenWorks chainsaw which I also run. We bought right from the company, which I also run, we didn't have to buy the mower with one. And we always have one on the charger so we can keep going. Now I plan on getting a hedge trimmer and maybe a weed wacker. Love the product. Love the company!Dar
No More Gas Mowers
The package arrived. I carried it to the back yard, opened it up, pulled it out, and the most difficult part was removing the plastic sleeves on the mower's arms. Flip up the arms, insert the battery and turned it on. I just stood there because I couldn't hear anything, it was so quiet. But as you start to mow it makes some noise. It only makes a loudish sound during higher grass. I adjusted the deck height with it still running it's so simple. Wow! What a steal! I already had a battery from their leaf blower so total cost was $164. I spent $199 on a pair of Adidas just days before!!Bbbgg
Not performing well
It is not running for more than 10 minutes, with fully charged batteries.
Thinking it is a batter problem, I tried 3 batteries, 2AH and 4AH, with 2AH it runs for 5-6 minutes, and with 4AH, it runs for 8 minutes.
I need to return it. Trying to find out how to as it is not sold by Walmart but a different retailer through WalmartJohnson
Right out of the box, did not work!
Right out of the box, did not work! Followed the instructions, which a two year old could understand (but clearly should not be operating a lawn mower) and it would not start. I dont know if the box was dropped when shipped to the store? Or if greenworks just sucks. But i am very very unhappy. Especially since i was stoked to have an electric lawnmower.IO
Where's the battery?
Anxiously awaited my new lawnmower, as my grass is getting long. Never ordered an electric lawnmower before, but tired of gas powered. When package battery?!? Looked at instructions, but the model numbers for the batteries didn't match with the lawn mower. Called Greenworks...told me a battery will cost at least $100 more. I'm returning it.Annoyed
