Powerful and quiet
I bought this expecting a gas-equivalent mower and was pleasantly surprised with its power. We bought a house some time ago and the lawn had grown to a full 8 inches. Not only did the mower go through it with ease (4 full bags of clippings), but there was plenty battery life left. It's definitely an upgrade from gas mowers in the same price range!Oksynous
Tad misleading
got the mower unpacked, faily simple. dropped in two of my smaller tool batteries and mowed. Nice, easy, quiet.
All done, pulled batteries, which is difficult because there isn't a pull strap pn the batteries and it is a tight fit while holding the battery lock.
It was then that I discovered that on this mower, advertised as a dual battery mower, that it onle has ONE battery plug-in recepticle. I got the 4Ah battery charged and installed it, ran good. Had to make a battery strap to be able to get a grip on the battery to remove it from the mower.
So, think about printing a notice that there is only one battery recptical on this mower, don't just say it is a dual battery unit.Itry
Best of the battery powered mowers right here.
Perfect for small lawns. NO PULL CORD. Great power for even Bermuda and Zoysia lawns. No mixing gas and trips trying to find non-ethanol gas for the newer gas engines. Good battery life with more than enough time to mow a normal sized small lawn. Nice clean level cut at all heights. The best is yet to come with the vertical storage it doesn't take up much room in your garage or shed. I have 40 years experience as a golf course superintendent I know mowing grass. This gets the job done.DoweW
A great push mower with cool features
This lawnmower has a great design. I love the way it folds up and stands vertically for compact storage. This is not something that could be done with a gasoline engineer with an oil reservoir. I also really like the one point height adjustment. One lever raises and lowers the lawnmower. The last push mower I had required adjustment of each wheel and it was difficult. This mower is a single point and smooth operating. The safety switch and handle for starting are easy to operate and the lawnmower runs very quietly. I also like that the battery compartment has a storage slot for a second battery for a quick on the fly switch out. For larger yards this feature will be great. I like the detachable side shoot and bagger. If there was any minor criticism it would be nice if those two items would hang on the mower in vertical storage mode but this is a minor thing. Overall this is a great lawnmower to have. I'm sure my neighbors will appreciate the quiet!Luke
Impressed!
Amazed at the difference an electric makes. Lighter, quieter, no exhaust - all big plusses. Only negative is the short run I get out of a single battery (only about 20 minutes), so I have to conserve. It takes three full battery charges a yard, so with two batteries, a bit of a pain. Plan to buy two higher capacity batteries when I can afford them.Allen S
Effective Mower
Got this as my first Greenworks Tool as a house warming gift and I haven't had any issues with it. It's much quieter than a gas mower and the maintenance on it is virtually non-existent. More than worth its price. It does have 2 downsides. 1: like almost all battery driven mowers, the front wheels do not turn, so you have to pivot on the back wheels constantly. I have a yard with tons of turns and corners so the lack of turning wheels is actually a pain. 2: the "turbo" turns on too easily and takes too long to switch off which eats up the battery much faster. I have about a quarter acre and about 2/3 of the time I have to use an entire 4Ah and a 2Ah battery to get the job done.Eric91
Battery
I just bought this lawn mower and spent over two hours trying to get the battery out I was so tried pulling and reading the manual seeing what I was doing wrong and I see noting I was doing wrong I'm calling tomorrow to see what the problem is may be the battery however it does cut grass very wellBeka1
Works well
Used for over 2 years and have had no issues with operation. Would have liked even better if the company had design an easier way for removing battery from mower. The door over batteries does not allow easy access and the battery is so recessed that is very difficult to remove. However, made a strap of sewing ribbon that encircled battery top to bottom on sides away from charge prongs and was able to push battery release button and pull up on ribbon to remove. Should be easy to design that into battery or include in kit.Slash
Solid equipment, mediocre battery
Mower and trimmer work great. Mower feels like it's going to fall apart as you push it, but cuts fine. Battery life/charging time are average at best. I have 0.4 acres and I can cut for 22min before having to recharge my main battery, the 4h, which is not good.Jp15
Battery defeats it
I have a house on less than the usual suburban quarter acre and the grass is not that tall or hard to cut. The gas mower took about 75-90 minutes to cut it. My son got a Ryobi electric and is getting slightly under an hour per charge. I'm all for renewable energy so bought this mower when Walmart had it on sale.

The mower itself is great. Light weight, plenty of power, and cuts well. No issues with the engine cutting out on the small steep slope.

The 4Ah (bigger) battery is the heart that cripples the whole thing. How short the battery lasts turns a once a week chore of an hour and a half into day after day of having to go back to cut another small area. The battery lasts for roughly 20 minutes (depends on temp) and then needs about 3.5 hours to recharge.

Looked into the 5Ah Greenworks batteries and they are stupidly expensive, take longer to charge, PLUS require a different charger! Bought a second 4Ah battery off Amazon for a $79 which is a lot less than Greenworks batteries cost and it lasts about the same time. But to do my little quarter acre in one day needs FOUR batteries!BobDamascusMD
